In October 2010 my brother Willi visited us from Germany. He tries to come every year, but this time was different...as you remember we sold our house in March, so we welcomed Willi as our first overseas guest on Orion. This may not be of significance if it wasn't for the fact that Willi usually turns green at the simple thought of a boat! Willi is my triplet brother, and we are very close, which must be the reason that he agreed to sleep in the aft cabin on Orion...or at least to give it a try. Well, I am happy to report that Willi "passed the test with flying colors". We did not go sailing with him this time, but he got used to life at the marina and on our sailboat...so much that he even wants to come back! Rick and I are grateful to all our good friends here at the Marina de Salinas, who contributed to make Willi feel relaxed and at home...this is a super community! We had a great time with Willi, visiting a lot of places on our beautiful island home.

Back on Orion
After Willi left we understandably needed a "sail-fix" (no offense Willi) and took the first chance to sail to Coffin Island on Orion from October 28 to October 30, 2010...cutting the trip short, because of the anticipated arrival of hurricane Thomas on November 1...a rare late in the year storm which missed us but produced high winds and seas.
We had a great sail _/)
Beautiful beautiful Coffin Island surrounded by turquoise seas...
The Captain hard at work cleaning Orion's bottom! Mmmmhhh...not a bad bottom himself :o)
Our 18 year old Sailor Cat Whiskers enjoyed the trip also :o)
Beautiful sunset at Coffin Island...Paradise...
"The quiet before the storm" on the way back to our dock in Salinas...
The dark clouds of hurricane Thomas...trouble in Paradise...
We stayed at the dock and luckily had no problems during the storm!
