Coffin Island is our favorite destination as you may have noticed, and we try to sail there on most weekends. So we left our slip at Marina Salinas around 0850 on Saturday morning and set sail soon thereafter. We had a nice breeze, which carried us under full sail to our anchorage at Coffin Island, where we arrived at 1150…three hours of a beautiful voyage with only the sound of the waves accompanying us. It doesn’t get better than that! We enjoyed the rest of the day relaxing and at day’s end watched yet another one of those spectacular sunsets that we have become accustomed to, but will never ever take for granted!
After a cool breezy night we sipped a cup of nice hot chocolate and munched on grilled cheese sandwiches. I know that our friends outside of the tropical climate will laugh at our description of cold…but 63 degrees F is freezing cold for us here in the Caribbean! That’s when we need to put on sweaters and jackets or lie under a blanket…for real! Even the Captain, as you can see from the picture :o)
We sailed back to Salinas at 1030 and stayed in Salinas Bay for quite a while just tacking back and forth, letting Orion play with the wind…how fun…eventually bringing down the sails and docking at 1530. Another great weekend in paradise :o)
